Vintage Yves Saint Laurent Textured Leather Bifold Wallet c. Late 1980s Brown

Gold-tone metal corners frame the edges of this Yves Saint Laurent bifold wallet, their angular shine setting off the textured brown leather with a subtle flash. The Cassandre YSL monogram is pressed deep into the exterior, a mark that needs no introduction or adornment. Noticeable surface scratches and scuffing trace the leather, mapping years of use across the grain.

The late 1980s to early 1990s saw Saint Laurent’s name stamped in a serif font both on the included box and on the wallet’s body, a detail that tethers this piece to the era when the house was a fixture on Avenue Marceau and the Cassandre logo had already become shorthand for Parisian confidence. Those three initials, designed by A. M. Cassandre in 1961, remain undisturbed by trend or time.
