Burgundy leather sets a deep frame around the round gold-tone case, the dial signed simply ‘GUCCI’ in serif capitals above slender Roman numerals in matching gold. The case edge is marked by a green-red-green enamel stripe, a Gucci code that runs quietly along the side rather than the face. A gold-tone clasp secures the strap, its surface clear of any additional engraving or logo.
The strap is finished in smooth, lightly grained leather, fastening at the wrist with a classic pin buckle. The dial’s cream ground is bordered by gold-tone hardware, with an understated ‘SWISS MADE’ in small caps at six o’clock. The watch is accompanied by its original Gucci box; no visible serial number or model reference is present.
This design belongs to the late 1980s–early 1990s, a period when Gucci was in the midst of Dawn Mello’s reset — the logo dialed back, lines made cleaner, archival signatures like the web stripe reduced to a discreet accent on the hardware. The watch captures the house at a turning point: poised between its maximalist past and the recalibration that paved the way for Tom Ford’s arrival.
