Vintage Celine Macadam Leather Bifold Wallet Late 1980s Burgundy

In Paris, sometime in the late 1980s, the studio air was thick with the scent of leather and the sound of the city outside — this is the bifold wallet that would have emerged from Céline’s workrooms. The burgundy textured leather exterior is punctuated by the brand’s gold-tone Triomphe snap, a motif sketched by Vipiana herself after a taxi ride ended at the Arc de Triomphe. The surface carries gentle creasing, the colour shifting deeper at the fold where hands have moved over it.

Inside, the wallet opens to a lighter burgundy leather lining, split into two main compartments with a zipped pocket for coins and receipts. The hardware, smooth and weighty, closes with a satisfying click; no visible logos interrupt the surface, only the quiet confidence of the Triomphe clasp. There are no accessories included.

Céline’s Macadam line, with its signature Triomphe hardware, defined the brand’s late Vipiana era — a period when the maison's codes drew from Parisian history and the patterns of the city itself.
