Vintage Cartier Must de Cartier Seau Drawstring Bag c. Late 1980s Burgundy

A deep burgundy leather cylinder gathers at the top with a gold-tone drawstring, the surface unbroken but for a single oval patch embossed with Cartier’s double C signature. The Seau model’s silhouette is softened by the adjustable shoulder strap, anchored by gold-tone hardware and a sliding adjuster, allowing the bag to be worn high under the arm or slung lower at the hip. The closure is fluid, the drawstring gliding through paired eyelets, with a single slip pocket set into the matching burgundy fabric lining inside.

This is Must de Cartier from the late 1980s to early 1990s, when the maison’s bordeaux calfskin became the calling card for a new generation—luxury in steps, the double-C gilt marking a halfway point between everyday and high jewellery. The rich, wine-red leather and precise, minimal hardware place the bag in this era of Parisian aspiration, when Rue de la Paix was both a destination and a promise.

Condition is very good, with light surface scratches on the leather and minor signs of use on the base and strap. Structure, hardware and lining remain intact. No accessories included.
