Gucci renamed a bag after Jackie Kennedy. She never asked.
The bag was called the Constance when Gucci introduced it in 1961. Then Jackie Kennedy started carrying it — in Washington, on Air Force One, in front of photographers. Gucci renamed it the Jackie. She never gave permission. She never complained either. The name stuck.

Tom Ford revived the Jackie in the 1990s — same piston closure, updated leather, sharp campaign photography. Alessandro Michele made it a soft hobo in 2020, under the name Jackie 1961. Dakota Johnson carried a green version in the 2023 campaign. The piston closure hasn't changed since 1961.

Dakota Johnson in the Gucci 2023 campaign, carrying a green Jackie on a Los Angeles street. The bag is the same shape as the 1961 original — curved base, slim strap, single piston clasp. Our piece is black leather, the original colourway. W 24 × H 20 × D 8 cm.
