Bottega Veneta. No logo. Andy Warhol made the ad in 1978.
Bottega Veneta was founded in Vicenza in 1966. By 1975, the woven leather had become the signature — not a printed logo, but the structure of the material itself. Each strip is hand-cut calfskin, woven by hand. No seams on the outside. In 1978, Andy Warhol designed the brand's ad. The line: *"When your own initials are enough."*

In 1980, Lauren Hutton carried a black Intrecciato clutch in *American Gigolo*. Boutiques ran out within weeks. Cameron Diaz carried the brown hobo. Charlize Theron carries it now in burgundy. The weave is the same. The leather strips are still cut and woven by hand at the Manifattura Veneta Pelletterie in Altavilla Vicentina.

The Bottega Veneta campaign aesthetic has always been the same: no logo visible, high contrast, the bag as the only statement. This 1990s campaign photograph uses the same visual logic as the current Daniel Lee and Matthieu Blazy seasons. Our piece is tan woven calfskin. W 32.5 × H 13 × D 7 cm.

No logo since 1975. Still the most recognisable bag in the room. ↓
